
Mrs. Whitley was born January 31, 1943 in Marietta, GA the son of the late Arthur Mitchell and Ethel Booth Mitchell.
Nancy was of the Baptist faith and a proud member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Gladys Mason Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Nancy was very neat and orderly and liked everything to be kept in its place. She enjoyed cooking and tending to her flower gardens. Her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her husband of 25 years, James Whitley, her children grandchildren and friends.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Max and Adrian Mitchell; and sister, Opal Hartsfield.
Survivors include her husband, James Whitley, sons and daughters-in-laws, David and Tammy Abernathy of White and Jim and Melissa Whitley of Acworth; sons, Tim Abernathy of Adairsville and John Whitley; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Peggy Mitchell of Cartersville; sister, Betty Cobb of Cartersville; grandchildren, Rhyne and Cami Abernathy of Rydal, Summer and Andy Garrett of White, Dillon Whitley of Acworth, Taylor and Jack Whitley of Adairsville; great grandson, Copeland Abernathy of Rydal.
Funeral Services will be held 3:30 PM, Saturday, November 16, 2013 from the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Don Hattaway and Rev. Richard Brown officiating. Interment will immediately follow from Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as Pallbearers are Calvin Green, Dennis Hartsfield, Larry Oliver, Jimmy Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, Lamar Mitchell, Scott Blackman and Lucious Hartsfield.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Henry Lee Smith.
The family will receive friends 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, November 15, 2013 from Owen Funeral Home.
