

She graduated from J.C. Murphy High School, Atlanta, GA, where she was selected the Most Athletic and Homecoming Queen. Patricia earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia and was an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado. She taught and recruited teachers for nine years in the Atlanta Public School System, and taught in the Cartersville school system for eight years.
She was the loving wife of Jerry A. Simmons, Sr., for more than 46 years. She was a loving mother to her sons: Jerry A. Simmons, Jr., and his wife Carolyn of Albuquerque, New Mexico; David N. Simmons and his wife Lee Anne of Los Gatos, California; Warren Delmar Simmons, Sr. and his wife Stacy of Acworth, Georgia. Patricia’s grandchildren are Warren, Claudia, Aaron, Josh, Camille, and Amanda. She was loved and admired as an Aunt to her nieces and nephews: J. Shay Davis Little, Taylor A. Davis, Margaret Alday Carter, Byron Bailey Alday, Paul Gunnells, Joel Gunnells, Janet Hagye, and many great nieces and nephews.
She was always loved, admired, and respected by her sister, Priscilla Alday Davis and her husband Chuck of Kennesaw, and her brother J. Byron “Pete” Alday and his wife Janet of Cartersville. Patricia set the example for them through her generosity, kindness, and love for others.
Patricia was a dedicated and devoted member of the women’s organization, Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), for more than 37 years; a member of the Etowah Valley Historical Society; a faithful member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville; a volunteer for Meals on Wheels; and a devoted and regular reader to the elderly community of Cartersville, Georgia.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 26th at the First Presbyterian Church in Cartersville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you consider a donation to the Meals on Wheels ministry at First Presbyterian Church, 183 West Main St., Cartersville, GA 30120.
