

Paul Ellis Wilson, 88, passed away at his home on Mission Rd., Cartersville, Georgia, June 29, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 67 years, Rebecca Armstrong Wilson, and his family and friends.
He was especially proud of his granddaughter, Ashlee Rebecca Todd, and grandson-in-law, Brandon Todd, a retired officer in the U.S. Coast Guard in Mandeville, LA, and his great-granddaughter, Averie Dawn Todd, the apple of his eye.
Paul was a loving husband, father, paw-paw, son, son-in-law, brother, and brother-in-law and will be missed by all who knew him.
Paul began his career with Lewis Carpet Mills, Cartersville, GA as department manager over the lab and dyeing operations. From there he worked with Lockheed in Marietta, GA as the liaison between Lockheed and the U.S. Airforce. His final position was with Premier Yarn Dyers, Adairsville, GA for several years.
Early on in his marriage, he found the love of boating, riding around in his first little wooden Chris-Craft boat. On Lake Allatoona, GA, he found peace, relaxation and tranquility.
Paul and Rebecca are avid golfers and members of the Cartersville Country Club. They were the fourteenth couple to be sponsored by Mr. Hans Lewis to become a member.
They traveled and played golf at St. Andrews, Scotland, Pebble Beach, Sawgrass and the Masters, just to mention a few.
Paul had a need for speed and loved racing and NASCAR and Indy. He went to a lot of races at Indianapolis, IN, Bristol, IN, Talladega, AL and the Atlanta Motor Speedway and many more.
Later on they bought a houseboat named “The Rebecca.” He was a proud “Captain” entertaining friends and family on weekends skiing and sightseeing.
He knew every inch of Lake Allatoona, all the coves where you could stop and safely swim and cook hamburgers and hot dogs for the family and friends.
Paul and his family spent a lot of time at their second home, “Moon Drifter,” Panama City Beach, FL. He spent time walking on the beach with his canine pal, “Daisy,” and collecting seashells.
Paul was the second son of eight siblings. Born in Cartersville, GA on April 19, 1938.
He is survived by wife, Rebecca Wilson, granddaughter, Ashlee Todd (Brandon), great-granddaughter, Averie Todd, brothers; Jack Wilson (Sue), Randy Wilson (Debra), sisters; Faye Smith (Ronny) and Marie Van Linden (Pete), sisters-in-law; Pat Covington (Gene), and Brenda Buckner (Steve), and many nieces and nephews, ad beloved pets, Emma and Miss Kitty.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea Dawn Wilson, his parents, Howard Franklin Wilson Sr. and Blanche Hartness Wilson, his brother, Howard Franklin Wilson Jr., sisters, Barbara Wilson Epps and Linda Trentham, his niece, Christie Smith, father-in-law, Francis Joseph Armstrong, mother-in-law, Virginia W. Armstrong, and brother-in-law, Gary F. Armstrong.
The funeral service will be held at Church of the Ascension, 205 W Cherokee Ave, Cartersville, GA 30120 on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Paul will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens. 790 Indian Mound Rd. SE, Cartersville, GA 30120. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Harris, Matthew Pate, Randy Wilson, Steve Hall, Keith Wilson, and Brandon Todd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cartersville Country Club Golf Charity Tournament.
