He was raised in Lynbrook, NY. Pete’s upbringing is where he developed his love for sports and nature. He played highschool football, as well as collegiate crew. He grew up hunting, fishing and traveling to State and National parks. Even with all of his outdoor activities, he was sure to never miss a game or event on TV. He carried this love throughout his life, and even after his diagnosis of cancer, he still found joy in watching sporting events and sharing these experiences with his friends and family.
He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from SUNY Albany, graduating with honors, and his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University, graduating at the top of his class. Pete considered the best years of his life as the time when he served the Cartersville community as a Chiropractor. He used his hands to heal pain, but along the way he also made an impact by being a friend to so many of his clients and their families.
Out of everything that brought Pete joy in life, his children were number one. Anyone who knew him, knew how much he loved his sons Danny & Liam and his daughter Gracie. He took an active role in mentoring and sharing his love of learning, sports & the outdoors with them. He was always the first to tell you how proud he was of his children and how much he loved each of them.
He passed peacefully with family by his side. He is survived by his children, Danny, Liam & Gracie Egan, as well as his mother, Anna Egan and sisters Antoinette Sundeberg, Deirdre Layden & Shannon Malsnee. He was proceeded by his father Peter A. Egan Sr., sister Anna Maria Egan Jack and grandparents Antoinette Egan & James Egan of New York, and Annie Duggan & William Duggan of Ireland.
There will be a small intimate service for immediate family in the days following his death and a Celebration of Life in April near his birthday. Details regarding the Celebration of Life will be shared on the Owen Funeral Home page at a later date.
