The son of the late Jeff and Eunice Crumley of Taylorsville, Ga., Ray was born Oct. 28, 1938, and grew up with five sisters, who doted on him. He moved to Cartersville in 1963, served five years in the U.S. Army Reserves, and worked at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta for 33 years before his retirement. He was also involved in several business ventures including co-owning a marina in Cartersville.
A master at wood-working and home renovation, Ray helped almost every family member and friend with home projects. He also was very involved in local chapters of Alcoholics Anonymous, having been sober for more than 35 years. He was an inspiration to many and sponsored or mentored fellow AA attendees. These friends became his family over the years.
Ray’s favorite pastime was fishing. When he was able, he spent time fishing in some of the best spots in the South and ventured to Alaska to fish several times.
Survivors include his companion Wylene Crumley; son Michael Crumley (Michelle); daughter Ramonda Crumley Siniard (Stacey); grandchildren Matthew and Gracie Siniard; sisters Wynell Weaver (John), Ann Pulliam, Charlotte Sharp; nieces and nephews Jeff Fuqua, Jennifer O'Neal, Kristi Bramblett, Steve Weaver, Paula Landers, Joy Pulliam, Amanda Turner, Sam Sharp. Other family members include Angela Austin, Sharon Brown, Richie England, and Tim England and their families.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 at four o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home.
