

He was born August 24, 1948 in Bartow County, GA to Genola Mundy and Ralph E. Yancey, Sr.
Edde is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Yancey.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Chitwood Yancey and son, Michael Edward Yancey of Cartersville. He is also survived by Aunt, Ann Summey and Uncle, Terry Mundy, special cousin, Charles Summey and a number of other cousins and relatives.
Edde was a 1966 graduate of Cartersville High School, was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1970. He retired from the Bartow County Road Department in 2009 where he had worked in the sign department. Prior to that, he was employed with Nantucket Industries in Cartersville for almost 25 years.
Edde attended the Cartersville Church of the Covenant and was a huge supporter of Southern Gospel Music, attending hundreds of Gospel concerts over the years. He was an avid fisherman and spent many days on the lake with his fishing partner, Tony Sanford.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, July 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville with Rev. Ronnie Cline and Christopher Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Rowland Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 79 Rowland Springs Road, Cartersville. Serving as pallbearers are Edde’s friends and fishing buddies, Tony Sanford, Chad Cline, Mike Wilkey, Dee Wilbanks, Rick Ross and Larry Burns.
