
Richard William Holcomb, 23, of Rydal, Georgia passed away Saturday April 19, 2014. Richard was born February 15, 1991 in Chesapeake, Virginia. He is the son of Jennifer Holcomb and the late Glen Holcomb Sr. Richard was attending Southern Polytechnic State University where he studied Mechanical Engineering and was very involved in the Electric Vehicle Team. Richard also enjoyed old cars and was in the process of restoring a Chevelle. In addition, he enjoyed camping as well as spending time with his family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Glen Holcomb Sr. and his paternal grandfather, William “Sonny” Holcomb. Survivors include: Richard’s mother, Jennifer Holcomb; his sister, Tiffany Holcomb Rose; brother, Glen Holcomb Jr.; and brother in law, Joshua Rose. Richard is also survived by the love of his life and fiancée, JoAnna Heath. Other survivors include grandparents: Richard and Edna Hofacker, Carol Lowery, and Martha Holcomb. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services were held in Cartersville, Georgia on Friday April 25, 2014 at 3:30 pm in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Kenny Jacobs. Interment occurred at Providence Cemetery and a reception was hosted by family and friends at The Cove Clubhouse after the graveside service. Pallbearers consisted of members of the Southern Polytechnic University Electric Vehicle Team. Active pallbearers include: Jason MeGahee, Tyler Rowan, Matthew Lawrence, Chris Ernst, Mark DaCosta, Richard Wilmott, Carter Knight, and Nathan Bateman. Honorary pallbearers include: Austin May, Chris Evans, Hugh Cathey, Kyle Ruda, Payam Ghobadpour, Vikram Balakrishnan, Ricky Mitchell, Josh Lee, Julian Patton, and Chris Antepenko.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr., Cartersville, GA., had charge of the funeral arrangements.
