
Mr. Hughes was born on October 28, 1948 in Canton, GA, son of the late Paul and Cleo Hughes.
Mr. Hughes graduated from West Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He was a retired banker who served the Cartersville community for over forty years. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Cartersville County Club. He had a great passion for music and loved playing the guitar. On Saturdays, you could often find him rooting for the Georgia Tech football team. His true love and dedication was proudly given to his three step-children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beth Anne Hughes; step-children, Caroline, Jackson and Katie Moore; brother, Brad Hughes (Pam) of Cartersville; nephews, Kent Hughes of Cartersville and Colin Hughes (Jordan) of Oxford, MS; great nephew, Henley Hughes.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at twelve o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, November 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Battles officiating.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Slaughter, Rodney Abernathy, Mike Bryans, Dennis Baker, Sam King and Dan Davenport.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to service time at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation or The Etowah Valley Humane Society.
