

Bob was born May 5, 1921 in Barnesville, Georgia, the son of Uel Curtis Barrett and Bobbie Matthews Barrett. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Sally Howard Barrett of Cartersville; children, Laurie McAfee, Patti and Bruce Taylor, Sally Clay and Mark Smith, Curt Barrett. grandchildren, Rose and Brant Jones, Lloyd and Melina Taylor, Lauren and Jonathan Pressley, Scott and Claire Taylor, Matt McAfee, Kate Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Grace Taylor and Erin Smith. Bob’s extended family includes Barry Fioranelli, Robert and Heather McAfee, Molly McAfee, and Katelyn, Mason and Tyler McAfee. He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter. He was blessed to have loving, extended family members Glenda Cooley, Jodie Messer, Albertha Reed, Sybol Morris and Phillip Dodson, Jr.
Mr. Barrett was a 1942 Honor graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked in Venezuela for Standard Oil of Louisiana before beginning his career with Chemical Products Corporation in Cartersville. He worked for Chemical Products as Sales Manager for over 35 years, retiring in 1987.
Mr. Barrett was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville, where he served as both Deacon and Elder. He was a charter member of the Cartersville Country Club and served in the Cartersville Rotary Club for many years. Bob loved golfing with friends, photography, traveling and playing with his grandchildren.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 4. Visitation will be at 3:00pm in the Fellowship Hall with the service at 4:00pm in the Sanctuary. Burial will follow at Euharlee Presbyterian Church cemetery. Pallbearers are Lloyd Taylor, Scott Taylor, Matt McAfee, Bruce Taylor, Mark Smith, Brant Jones and Jonathan Pressley. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Bob can be given to the First Presbyterian Church (183 West Main Street) of Cartersville, GA 30120.
