Mr. Adams was born October 10, 1945, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of the late Tip and Leona Adams.
Most recently a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Butch and his family were members at Douglas Street United Methodist Church where he served in a number of capacities including chair of the administrative council and as a Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Adams was employed as a Research Engineer for Lockheed Martin in Marietta for thirty-eight years. He was a graduate of Southern Technical Institute where he received a bachelor’s degree of Industrial Engineering Technology.
Butch also enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He loved hunting, fishing, woodcarving, flint knapping, knife making, and antiques. He assisted his aunt and uncle with their business, Adams’ Antiques serving as an auctioneer, repair specialist, and expert refinisher. Following his retirement from Lockheed Martin, he helped his son Robert with the Cartersville Antique Gallery.
He is survived by his son, Robert Adams of Cartersville, his sisters Anne Boulier and Rosann Bararas of Cartersville, and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Cox Adams, his parents Tip and Leona Adams, his aunt and uncle Robert and Annie Lou Adams, his brother Lloyd Pete Adams, and his sister Sue Adams.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A memorial service will follow in the Owen’s chapel at 2:00 pm. Larman Self and Ronald Cooper will officiate. His burial will be a private ceremony.
