Bobby was born on August 31, 1955 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late John Robert Grimes and Velma Bryant Grimes.
Bobby was a dedicated employee of the Georgia Department of Transportation for twenty-four years, where he served as a Road Surface Profiler. He was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud member of Grace Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon and he also taught the New Believer's Sunday School Class. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding and racing cars and motorcycles. He was an area representative for ten years with the Christian Motorcylist Association and was instrumental in starting seven chapters in the northwest Georgia area. Bobby was involved with the Cartersville HOG Chapter and served as chaplain for several years. In his later years, he was the chaplain of the Southeastern Drag Bike Association and Racers for Christ.
Bobby is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Joseph and Dolores Corbitt.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty-six years, Melinda Wilson Grimes; son, John (Angie) Grimes; grandchildren, Joshua and Dillon Grimes; brother, Tracy (Kim) Grimes; nephews, T.J. Grimes and Dallas Corbitt; niece, Jessica (Mario) Corbitt-Dominguez; great-niece and nephew, Miranda and Daniel Dominguez; Bobby's very special cat, Buddy Grimes; a host of uncles, aunts and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home.
