Dr. Robert Eugene "Gene" Randolph

Our Beloved husband, father and grandfather; a faithful Presbyterian minister for 52 years, Robert Eugene “Gene” Randolph parted this life and was promoted to the Church Triumphant on December 6, 2010.

Dr. Randolph was born July 17, 1930 in Norfolk, Virginia son of the late James Edward Randolph and Beulah Adelia Trevathan Randolph. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Hampden-Sydney College; he received his Master of Divinity Degree from Columbia Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. from Emory University.

Dr. Randolph was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church U.S on June 8, 1958. He served as the Organizing Pastor of churches in Decatur, Doraville, Marietta and Cumming, Georgia. Dr. Randolph also served a pastorate in Signal Mountain, TN and an associate pastorate at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. During these pastorates he was a member in good standing of Atlanta, Knoxville Tennessee and Cherokee Presbyteries. In 1990, he was honored by his colleagues and elected as Moderator of Cherokee Presbytery. He retired honorably from ministry on July 31, 1995.

Dr. Randolph was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the United States Marine Corp.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty Byrd Randolph; a daughter & son-in-law; April Elizabeth & Kermit Hopper; a son; Stephen Edward Randolph; grandchildren; Beth Hopper and Samantha Kate Hopper and a brother & sister-in-law; Rev. Marvin & Anne Randolph.

Memorial services for friends and family will be conducted Saturday afternoon December 11th at 1:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cartersville with Rev. Ted Smith officiating.

There will be a reception in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday following the Memorial service.
