Roger was born on December 8, 1941 in Ottawa, IL, son of the late Frank T. Borkowsky and Louise Foley Borkowsky.
Roger attended St. Columba Catholic Grade School and then graduated from St. Bede Academy in Peru, IL. After high school, he graduated from Chicago Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he began his career in engineering at J.E. Porter Corporation in Ottawa, IL.
He later moved to Chicago and managed Washington and Arlington Horse Race Tracks. He then moved back to Ottawa, IL and worked for Union Carbide and then was transferred to Cartersville, GA. He retired after thirty years of dedicated employment.
Roger was an avid member of the Knights of Columbus and Cartersville, GA Elks Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed pheasant and quail hunting with his friends. He also enjoyed training his dogs to hunt. He also liked to cook. He was of the Catholic faith and a proud and active member of St. Francis of Assisi where he served as an usher and taught the teen CCD class for many years. His life was spending quality time with his family.
Roger is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Smith; brother-in-law, Richard Grivetti; a best friend Al Weimer.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Judith Wallner Borkowsky; sons, Michael (Tammy) Borkowsky and Christopher (Beth) Borkowsky and Jeffrey Borkowsky; grandhchildren, Camille, Ashlin, Gracie and Wyatt Borkowsky; brother, Frank (Kristine)Borkowsky; several nieces and nephews; God-child, Diane Grivetti Quick.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 6:30 in the evening with Father Juan Anzora officiating.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o'clock in the afternoon until eight, Sunday, the 22nd of April, 2018 at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Building Fund.
