Sara McGuire

Mrs. McGuire was born January 4, 1918 in Atlanta, GA, a daughter of the late Leon Guffin and Sara Pate Guffin.

Sara retired after 26 years of employment with Georgia Power all while raising her children. She had a very strong tie to her family and friends and a great faith in the Baptist Church. She was also known to start laughing before the punch line was delivered in a joke. Sara also had a great love of horses and ironically never rode one. She enjoyed sitting outside watching nature. She was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and never missed watching a game.

Mrs. McGuire is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Thomas Carden McGuire.

Survivors include her daughter, Phylis Holliday of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Judson DeLany of Evans, GA; sons and daughters in-laws, Tom and Ramona McGuire of Convington, GA and Doug and Rebecca McGuire of Cartersville; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, June 29, 2013 from Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs with the Rev. Tony Allen officiating.
