Sharon was born on July 1, 1949 in Chattanooga, TN and daughter of Harold Wesley Barrett and Betty Sue Routt.
Sharon was one-of-a-kind. She loved deeper, cared more and laughed harder than most people. She believed in the power of positivity and was everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Her friends and family knew she could be counted on for anything. She was best known for her fried okra, her gigantic collection of dishes and bunnies for every occasion, her love of working in her yard and planting flowers, being the best friend anyone could ask for, her over-the-top festive spirit at Christmastime, and for wearing Estee Lauder Beautiful. If you asked her to tell you her greatest accomplishments, she’d most certainly say her close relationship with her daughter, Ginger, her 38-year marriage to her husband, Steve. Her favorite sidekick would be her granddaughter “Emerson Rae of Sunshine” who lovingly called her “Bunny”. She loved the beach, any beach. In recent years, Sharon and Steve became active members of the Classic Glass Corvette Club out of Marietta and they enjoyed many amazing trips all over the country with their Corvette friends. She will never leave the hearts of those who love her and is celebrating in Heaven, illness free.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Harold Wesley Barrett; brother, David “Buddy” Wesley Barrett; her beloved dogs, Sugar, Sidney and Harry.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Sue Routt; loving husband, Steve Waddell; daughter, Ginger Wann-Gatewood; Son-in-law Vincent Gatewood and granddaughter, Emerson Rae Gatewood.
