Shelby was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, beloved by all who knew her. She was known for her kindness, generosity, fun-loving spirit, and a genuine smile that could brighten any room.
She dedicated her life to raising her family and providing a wonderful home not only for her children, but for anyone else who she thought needed "mothering," (even if they didn’t). In addition to raising a family, Shelby worked for many years in the medical field, finally retiring from Southern Regional Hospital after 30 years as an administrative assistant in Social Services.
Shelby was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and June Hicks, her daughter, Krysti Evans, her sister, Peggy Howard and brother, Lee Jefferson Hicks
Shelby is survived by her husband of 60 years, Nelson Rogers; her brother, Ronald Hicks; her sister, Betsy Turner; her daughter, Kimberly Mayben; granddaughter, Sydney Owens; grandsons, Luke Mayben and Jakob Evans; and great-grandsons, Noah and Cooper Owens. Her family will forever cherish her memory and the love she shared with them.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM, both at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor Shelby's life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, and to honor Shelby’s great love for children, the family requests that any donations be made to Live2540, an organization dedicated to providing life saving resources to some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Shelby’s love, warmth, and infectious smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
