Shirley Padgett Flowers

Mrs. Flowers was born March 24, 1941 in Cartersville, Georgia daughter of the late W.L. Padgett and Ethel Martin Padgett. She was retired having worked for Belk Department Store for 25 years and was a member of Atco Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brothers-in-law, Johnny Jenkins and Wallace Mullinax; her father & mother-in law, Edgar & Gladys Flowers.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John David Flowers; daughter & son-in-law, Carrie & Derek Mackey; grandchildren, Ronnie & Charity Messer; great-grandson, Collin James Messer; sisters & brother-in-law; Katie Mullinax Simpson & Charles Simpson, Janice Jenkins; sisters-in-law, Mary Sweat, Martha Graves, Fredda Flowers, Joyce Flowers and Mildred Tucker; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon August 25th at 3:00 p.m. in Atco Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Brown and Pastor Michael Boatfield officiating. The body will lie in-state from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her Nephews and include Jayson Jenkins, Danny Mullinax, Steven Flowers, Andy Flowers, Bill Graves, Eddie Flowers and Larry Wood.
