Thomas Alvin Smith

Thomas “Tom” Alvin Smith, age 64, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. He was born on January 27, 1959 in Rome, GA to the late Howell Lamar Smith and Sarah Brandon Smith. Tom was also preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Smith and sister, Margie Smith.

Tom is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elaine Pinson Smith; daughter Sarah Elizabeth Smith; son William Pinson Smith; brothers, Claude (Karen) Smith and David (Jackie) Smith; father-in-law and mother-in law, Carl and Sarah Pinson; brother-in-law, Randy Pinson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Carol Griner; and several nephews and nieces.

Tom devoted his life to his family and friends and doing what he loved - farming. He along with his brothers operated Smith Farms, Tri-County Gin and Carroll Fertilizer, LLC for more than 40 years. He enjoyed all things agriculture, taking the backroads and a good joke.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Raccoon Creek Baptist Church located at 1808 GA Highway 113 Cartersville, GA with the Rev. Wesley Morris and Rev. Scott Shepard officiating. The interment will follow at Stilesboro Cemetery with Scott Smith, John Smith, Ty Lyle, Caleb Griner, Jacob Griner, Isaac Griner, Justin Lasley, and Kris Myers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Euharlee Farmers’ Club. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church.
