
Vickie was born on June 24, 1952, in Atlanta, daughter of Doris C. Helms and the late Herman Cecil Crowley.
Vickie is a 1974 graduate of the University of Georgia and first worked in Washington, DC for Senator Herman Talmadge, After DC, Vickie was employed at Cobb EMC for 32 years serving in customer service and public relations. For 10 of those years, Vickie was at the State Capital lobbying the Georgia General Assembly prior to her retirement in 2009. Vickie is a member of Sam Jones United Methodist Church in Cartersville.
In addition to her father, Vickie is preceded in death by her stepfather Joe Max Helms.
Survivors include her mother, Doris C. Helms; husband, H. Boyd Pettit III; mother-in-law, Jody Pettit Riley; children, Victoria McBrayer "Bray" Pettit and Dana P. Bradley (Stan); sister, Freda Canada (Bob); brother, Joe Helms; grandchildren, Trip, Taff and Taryn Bradley; niece, Corrie Hubbard (Bryan) and nephew, Clay Canada (Linda).
Visitation will be in the Celebration Hall of Sam Jones United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Sanctuary at the Church at 11 am on Thursday, December 17, 2015 followed by a private graveside service in the Pettit Family cemetery plot at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral Services will be conducted by the Rev. Kevin Lobello, Rev. Nena Jones and Dr. Tommy Green.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sam Jones United Methodist Church Building Fund, 100 W. Church Street, Cartersville, GA 30120.
Pall Bearers are Dr. Ross Whatley, Matt Terry, Dr. Ben Warren, Charlie Butler, Bob Elsberry and Commissioner Lamar Paris.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, has charge of the arrangements.
