

Virginia was born in 1928 in Atlanta, GA., daughter of the late Henry and Marian Cochran. Her sister Mary Dean Patton preceded her in death.
Mrs. Jackson grew up in Cartersville and after high school attended Georgia State College for Women in Millegeville, Ga. In 1947, she married the love of her life, the late Hugh Isaiah Jackson. All of their five children were born and grew up in Cartersville where they belonged to the First Presbyterian Church. She and her husband were devoted to their family, their friends and their community. Virginia was a charter member and docent at the Booth Museum, Service League and Embroiderers’ Guild of America. She was a talented hostess and gardener and in her later years enjoyed travel. Virginia leaves behind many cherished memories and a wonderful legacy for her family and friends.
Virginia is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Osmundsen (John), Ms. Claire J. McMahon, and Ms. Amy Jackson; two sons, Mr. Stephen Jackson and Mr. Alan Jackson (Cheryl); grandchildren, John C. Osmundsen Jr., Lauren Osmundsen Meisenheimer (Ryan), Jackson P. McMahon, Amanda L. McMahon, and Catherine A. McMahon; great-grandchildren, Harper Meisenheimer and Reece Meisenheimer.
A Graveside service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Coile Estes officiating.
The family will receive friends from three o’clock in the afternoon until five on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville or The Alzheimer’s Association.
