

Mr. Gentry was born in Bartow County on February 26, 1939, the son of the late, Stewart and Estelle Gentry. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Carlton Gentry and his wife, Charlotte.
W.K. is survived by his wife, Margaret Woods Gentry, son, Michael Gentry of Cartersville, daughter, Susan Scott of Rome, son and daughter in law, Chris and Mindy Gentry of Marietta. Grandchildren, Carolyn Gentry, Allison Gentry, Sarah Gentry, Ella Gentry, Kel Scott and Marcus Scott, sisters, Joyce Conway, Joan and Gary Paulus, brothers, Phillips and Nancy Gentry, Jackie and Shirley Gentry and a number of nieces and nephews.
W.K. retired in February 1996 from the City of Cartersville after 34 years of service. He spent 14 years with the electric department and 20 years as the parks and recreation director.
W.K. loved going to church and was a member of New Hope Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed being with his family and especially his grandchildren. He made sure they had Brown Cow ice cream when they came for visits and he loved giving them to his little buddy, Jack Baxter, our neighbor.
W.K. loved playing golf with his sons and friends and was a member of the Cartersville Country Club for 30 years.
Visitation will be at Owen Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, October 2, 2015, from noon until 2:00 p.m.
Funeral services will follow the chapel of Owen Funeral Home. Pastors Drew Brown and Phillips Gentry will be officiating. Burial will follow immediately in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will include Dustin Cole, Keith Conway, Jackie Ray Gentry, Jeff Gentry, Perry Littlefield and Ronald Satcher.
