Walt Lipscomb

Walt was born January 2, 1927 in Bartow County. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 39 years. He also raised cattle and loved riding horses. He was a member of the Sam Jones United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lint Lipscomb and his mother, Nida Lipscomb. Also by his siblings Ruth Stegall, Edith Hann, Sally Jo Bell, Nathan Lipscomb, Will Lipscomb and Harry Lipscomb.

Surviving are his wife, Jimmye Lipscomb, and daughters, Melody Thacker(Gary Thacker) of Cartersville and Holly Gwilliam (DanGwilliam) of Mesa, AZ. Grandchildren are Dan Thacker, Cary Thacker (Melissa) Thacker, Terry Thacker (Debbie Thacker) of Cartersville, Dr. Sarah Corral (Charles Corral, of Scottsdale, AZ. Great grandchildren are Dakota Thacker and Driven Thacker, Alex and Zachary Thacker. Also, living in Arizona are 12 great grandchildren whom Walt recently visited when he was in Arizona.

He has 6 sister in laws, Sara Nell and Vera Lipscomb, of Cartersville, Sue Howel, of Rome, Wylene Pilgrim, of Chickamauga, Helen Hegwood, (Conn Hegwood) of Canton, with whom he spent many wonderful family vacations and special occasions with.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 23, 2013 from the Sam Jones United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Lobello, Rev. Joe Ringwalt and Rev. Nina Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Pilgram, Andy Pilgram, Kirk Hegwood, Scott Selmann, Lint Stegall, Randy Garbiel, Gary Lipscomb and Hugh Howel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Derrick Hann, Devon Hann, Cary Thacker, Dan Thacker, Gary Thacker, Daryl Hood, Terry Thacker, Wesley Hann and James Hilton.
