

Mr. Jacobs was born November 14, 1935 in Dallas, Georgia, a son of the late Willis Jacobs and Maudie Ellen Guyton Jacobs.
He was of the Baptist faith, a United States Air Force veteran and was retired from Shaw Industries, where he worked as a fabricator. He was a member of the Stilesboro Masonic Lodge #20, where he was Past Master.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sara Jo Godfrey Jacobs, son and daughter in law, Kenny and Denise Jacobs, of Cartersville, daughter and son in law, Debra and David Gilmer, of Aragon, brothers and sister in laws, Lewis and Helen Gilmer Jacobs, Gene Jacobs, Wayne and Linda Jacobs and Pauline Jacobs, all of Cartersville, five grandchildren, Bridget Jacobs, Staci Yarbrough, Melissa Gilmer, Jeffrey Gilmer and David Wayne Gilmer, three great grandchildren, Cameron Yarbrough, Aubrey and Taylor Gilmer, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Amos Jacobs, Charles Jacobs, John Willie Jacobs, Frank Jacobs, Boone Jacobs, Lizzie Akins and Bertha Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, from the Mt. View Church of God with Brother Grover Hilliard and Brother James Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Wayne Gilmer, David Gilmer, Jeffrey Gilmer, Staci Yarbrough, Terry Jacobs and Cory Jacobs.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Tuesday. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 till 2:00 P.M. Wednesday.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
