

William Paul Padgett III, age 80, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025. Born in Cartersville, GA on October 2, 1944, Paul was the beloved son of the late William Paul Padgett Jr. and Mary Emily Chappell Padgett.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Cagle Padgett; his sons, William Paul Padgett IV and Trumon Weston Padgett Sr. and wife Ann Marie Padgett; and his cherished grandchildren: Emily Diane Padgett, Trumon Weston Padgett Jr. , Olivia Ann Padgett, Ella Grace Padgett, William Paul Padgett V, and Gracy McEll Padgett. He also leaves behind his brothers, Harry Stanley Padgett and Kenneth Hughes Padgett, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In 1965, Paul proudly joined the United States Navy and served with distinction in the VF-31 Fighter Squadron aboard the USS Saratoga CV-60. During his service, he traveled the world, creating memories and experiences that shaped his life. After his honorable discharge in 1969, Paul attended Georgia Tech, where he earned a degree in Textiles.
A true innovator in his field, Paul owned and operated his own company, The Product Factory Inc., for over 21 years. His expertise in tufting and textiles earned him widespread respect across the carpet manufacturing industry. He was known as a genius in his craft and a mentor to many.
Beyond his professional life, Paul deeply loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing, camping, and teaching his sons and their cousins how to water ski. Gardening brought him peace, and he relished sitting on the front porch during a good rain or thunderstorm.
Most of all, Paul loved his family. Though a proud husband and father, he held the title of “Granddaddy” with particular honor. He never missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s events, cheer them on at sports games, and celebrate their achievements.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Paul’s Life at 4:00 PM at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, GA 30120. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Paul will be remembered for his warmth, brilliance, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of innovation, kindness, and cherished memories.
