Wilma Crenshaw Cameron, age 90 of Cartersville, GA passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024. She was born in Smith County, Mississippi on December 23, 1933 to Birdie Clodell Crenshaw and James “Jack” Pleasant Crenshaw.
Wilma is preceded in death by William Cameron. She is survived by her three children, Bill, Betsy and Julie, her son-in-law Mark, her grandchildren Nathan, Hannah and Rose and her new granddaughter-in-law Sarah.
Fond of gospel music, needlework, hummingbirds, coconut cake (especially for breakfast), travel and her wonderful church family, Wilma was known for her sassy wit, her resilience and determination, and her life-long antipathy towards cats and dogs. She faced life’s darker times with deep faith and calm strength, always believing that “this too shall pass.” Above all else, she loved a good laugh and was true to herself at all times.
Her meaningful stare was the stuff of legend; she tolerated no nonsense and did not suffer fools gladly. A brilliant bridge player with a prodigious memory and a cool poker face, she was always the one to beat.
Her three grandchildren, who called her “Nutty”, brought her great joy, and she loved seeing them grow up to become wonderful, kind, talented young people. She lived a life of love, full of fun, welcome, hospitality and laughter and will be remembered fondly and deeply missed by all her family and her many friends.
We will picture her laughing, with a mischievous twinkle in her beautiful green eyes, plotting to say something outrageous to bring the house down.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Owen Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church Cartersville with Rev. Leigh Jones and Rev. Mark Gray officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Wilma to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or to the work and mission of First Presbyterian Church, Cartersville, GA
