Wornie V. Bennett

Mr. Wornie V. Bennett, 87, of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Wornie was born in Cartersville, GA to the Late Mr. Sandy Bennett and Mrs. Belle Hufstetler Bennett on August 30, 1932.

Wornie was loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He and his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Cline Bennett met while they were attending Center Baptist Church where he was a member for many years. He worked for years at Cochran's and Holt's Pharmacies where he made lifelong friends. Wornie loved baseball and basketball and refereed and umpired for countless games over the span of 50 years. He was an avid gardener. Over the past several years, his greatest love was being Paw Paw to his five great grandchildren. Wornie will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Bennett Ingram, his parents, sisters; Lois Bennett Woods, Maxine Bennett Black and Marine Bennett Grizzle, brothers; Lloyd and Clinton Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, grandchildren; Paige (Clifton) Bennett, Brett (Paige) Ingram, great grandchildren; Cara and Colton Bennett and Ansley, Allie, and Delia Kate Ingram, brothers; Lucius "Booty", Paul and James Bennett. Many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Wornie's memory.

A graveside service for Mr. Bennett will be conducted on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Center Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Joey Phillips officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Brett Ingram, Clifton Bennett, Colton Bennett, James Bennett, Gary Fowler, Mike McPherson, Charles Howell and Lamar Grizzle. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Bennett.
