Born in Illinois on March 25, 1972, Noah spent his adult life in North Carolina. He attended North Carolina State University and never left it, his career consisted of building and running student IT Support for the university.
Noah was noted for his devotion and love for his family. He cared for his father and took on an important role as his Guardian after his father suffered a traumatic brain injury. Noah was also a loving Uncle who found great joy in spending time with his nieces. He thoroughly enjoyed music, films, reading, and gaming with friends and family. Those who knew him were more grounded in life with Noah’s talent for reason and compassionate listening.
Noah was a well respected colleague and had a 16 year career at NCSU. He first came to the ITD Help Desk in 1999 as a student worker. He joined the staff of the NC State University Help Desk as a full-time Computing Consultant in October of 2003.
Noah was a key player in the transformation of the ITD/Computing Services Help Desk to the campus-wide NC State Help Desk--a transition that took place in 2003. He was a strong advocate for technology users at NC State, and he helped develop many of the support processes that are still in place today. Noah worked to ensure that IT services were as easy as possible for people to use, and he also worked to make sure that people could get IT help when they needed it.
From 2011 to 2018, Noah was the Call Center manager and was responsible for hiring and supervising the Help Desk’s student staff. Noah recruited, hired, trained, and mentored the many students who have been on the front lines of the Help Desk. He helped many a student get a start on their career.
Noah is survived by his father, Earl Ross Genzel and his three siblings, Jace Kerrin, Quinn Genzel, and Nina Winter, and his nieces Aiden and Nora Winter-Deely.
A Memorial of Noah will be held 2-4 PM, on Saturday, January 25th at JC Raulston Arboretum McSwain Center Room 105. The family invites all that knew Noah to attend and celebrate his life. As Noah would have wanted, please come as you are.
