

Alfred Richard “Dick” Still, 75, of Cary, died September 8, 2010 after an extended battle with cancer. He was born in Vermillion, KS on November 7, 1934 to James and Martha Combs Still. He grew up in Axtell, KS and graduated from Axtell High School. He worked for the FBI in Washington, DC. Dick served in the US Air Force as a Russian Linguist. He attended Syracuse University to learn Russian for the Air Force. He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. Dick retired from IBM.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Catron Still; children, Jamie Benson and husband, Kevin, and Douglas Still; grandchildren, Shelby Swanner, Alexandra Still, Darcey Still, Kaysi Benson, and Kole Benson; siblings, Edith Hays and Carnie Browning; numerous nieces and nephews including, Hannah, Patty, Richard, and Kyle Still; mother-in-law, Ruth Catron; sisters-in-law, Charlene Still, Dorothy Still, and Shirley Williams and husband, Bobby; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Catron and wife, Janie, and Archie Catron and wife, Carolyne.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials contributions to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or Greenwood Forest Baptist Church Building Fund, 110 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511.
