

With unwavering faith and a heart full of love, Alice Jean Castleberry Miller, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Reunited in Heaven with her beloved son J and the love of her life, Jerry.
Jean was a godly woman whose life was a beautiful reflection of her deeply held faith in God. As a true prayer warrior her quiet strength and gentle spirit left an impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on June 20, 1935 in Sanford, NC, Jean was the cherished oldest daughter of Carey and Juanita Crowder Castleberry. At an early age she cultivated a heart deeply devoted to the Lord, a trait that would define every aspect of her life.
Jean graduated from Sanford High School where she played basketball, was the Homecoming Queen, dated and fell in love with the Captain of the football team. She also attended Peace College in Raleigh.
Jean and Jerry were married on June 3, 1955. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year, 25 days before Jerry passed away. Together they lived a full and happy life.
Jerry always said he thought Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful woman in the world until he saw Jean!
She was the heart of her family and leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, wisdom and strength. She will be eternally loved and deeply missed by her children, Julie Miller and Jill Miller Goodman, husband David and her adoring granddaughters Reece and Sawyer Goodman. Sadly, she was proceeded in death by her son, Jerry "J" Miller, Jr in 2016. Her family was her greatest earthly treasure.
Growing up a farm girl in Lee County, "Sissy" was proceeded in death by her parents, her two older brothers, Robert "Bud" and C.N. Castleberry and her two youngest sisters, Brenda Bougsty and Bobbie Baker. She is survived by two sisters, Joyce "Tom" Griffin and Rita Leinbach. Along with many wonderful nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11am Monday, June 8, 2026 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27518 with Rev. Craig Gaither officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
She has now heard the words of her Savior: "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Psalms 23:6 - "Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
