

She was born May 30th, 1949, in Bethesda, Maryland. Alice was the daughter of the late Col. Ewald Arnold vom Orde and Jule Hallie-Jesse Jones vom Orde. Alice was a lifelong learner and reader. She was Valedictorian of her class at Camp Lejeune High School. She was a graduate of Allegheny College. She then got her second bachelor's from University of Maine before finishing her master's degree in library and information science from the University of South Carolina. Alice worked as a librarian for many years with MSAD 47 school district in Central Maine, where she made many long-lasting friendships with her fellow librarians.
Alice’s life reflected resilience and strength qualities evident in the way she met each season with quiet resolve. She loved spending her summers on Salmon Lake in Belgrade Maine.
She is survived by her daughter, Rachel vom Orde and husband Alfeu Moreira Gomes; brother, Kurt vom Orde; sister Lisa vom Orde; nephews Jesse Woodard, Aaron Curie, and Carson vom Orde; niece Lorraine Woodard; and cousins Alan Jones, wife Kate Watts, Alan Haines and wife Wendy Haines and Firelinn Jones.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
