Anita Marie Twomey

Mrs. Anita Porgie Twomey, age 85, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2022, after several months of failing health. Born in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of the late John Porgie and the late Ann Porgie, and was married for over 61 years to her beloved husband, Mr. William Francis “Bill” Twomey, who preceded her in death.

It gave Anita great pleasure to have raised four successful sons and she greatly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Other than her family, Anita’s loves were the beach and knitting. If you knew Anita, then you probably have a blanket knitted by Anita. Anita attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Burlington, North Carolina, for more than 40 years .

Anita is survived by her four sons, William J. “Bill” Twomey and wife, Lisa, of Raleigh, Robert J. “Bob” Twomey and wife, Susan, of Cincinnati, OH, Richard J. “Rick” Twomey of Raleigh and John J. Twomey of Gibsonville; six grandchildren, Megan, Kristin, Amanda, Zachary, Joshua and Jack; two great grandchildren, Zoe and Liam, and one great grandchild on the way. Anita had no siblings, but her husband’s siblings became her own - Janet Villasenor, and husband, Tony, Carolyn Valerio, and husband, Nick, Edward Twomey and wife, Eileen, and the late John Joseph “Jack” Twomey.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 12, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Cary, North Carolina. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at [email protected].
