

Art (Arthur J.) Delaney, 86, of Cary, NC, died on September 29, 2025. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, resided in Woodbridge Township, NJ for most of his life, and moved to Ocean County, NJ in 1998 and then Wake County, NC in 2025. Art was a graduate of St. Peter's Prep '56, St. Peter's University, BS '60, and Kean University, MS '91. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966 and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. During his active duty (1960-62) he was stationed at Camp Page, Korea. Upon completing a 30-year career as a Systems Engineer with IBM, Art became an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Stevens Institute, DeVry College and Ocean County College, finally retiring in 2008. He served two terms on the Woodbridge Township school board.
Art was involved in several volunteer activities throughout his life. These included coaching youth sports, supporting hospice and visiting hospitals with his therapy dogs, volunteering in Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts, and participating in many fund raisers. He provided computer support for many local nonprofit organizations. Art was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Toms River, NJ as well as the Church of the Incarnation in Oviedo, FL.
Art was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Charlotte Delaney, a daughter, Suzanne Delaney, and three brothers, David, Richard and Patrick Delaney.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Joyce Anne Del Vecchio, brothers Thomas and Dennis, and his children, Katherine Delaney Como and husband Vincent Como, Elizabeth Delaney Jewell and husband Dale Jewell, and James Delaney and wife Jamie Czulada Delaney. Also surviving are his grandchildren Colin, Ethan, Peyton, Jason, and Brady.
