He is survived by daughter, Julie; son, Phil; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Ernie and daughter, Jean.
Bill graduated from NY State College for Teachers at Albany and earned a Masters at the Teachers College of Columbia University. He was president of Blasberg Motors Inc. for over 40 years. He was also the President of the Dobbs Ferry Hospital Association, and on the board of a local bank and treasurer of the Westchester Chevrolet Dealers Association.
Bill had a need to help his fellow man. He joined the local Rotary Club in 1955 and over the 40+ years tenure he was at times the President, District Governor, and managed the Youth exchange program for several years. His family hosted several exchange students. He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for his continued service. He was also a volunteer fireman in Hastings and Police commissioner.
He taught English as a second language but his true love was teaching Math. While in NY, he taught at Mercy College and Mount St. Mary’s college. After he and Ernie moved to Cary, NC in 1995, he continued to teach math to home school students, right up to his passing day. Teaching over 200 students.
He has touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
