Barry graduated high school at PS 93 and was a graduate of RCA Technical Institute in NYC, NY. Barry was married June 4, 1955, to Jacqueline Lees and started his family life living in a 3-story town home owned by his father-in-law and across the street from his parents on Stratford Ave in the Bronx. As his career in manufacturing developed, the family migrated to Queens, NY and eventually moved again to settle in Stony Brook, NY in 1969. Barry made his career in Production Management for over 35 years and held the title of Plant Manager in companies such as Columbia Cable Co., Aurora Toy Co, Nabisco, Marx Toy Co, Barad Auto Industries and PAC Industries. He continued working after retiring from industry and worked in numerous jobs including running a catering truck business and an Asset Manager for SUNY Stony Brook, all while taking care of his beloved wife Jacqueline who was suffering from a severe illness for over 10 years. After her death, Barry moved to Cary, NC to live near two of his sons and his grandchildren.
Barry spent most of his retirement creating and developing a business “FlipStonz” for which he was especially proud. He not only learned to use a computer but very sophisticated software and equipment in order to manufacture and produce the product right up to his passing.
Barry was a loving devoted husband, and a great father and grandfather. He loved his family, friends and his work. He prided himself as being a problem solver and an innovator. He loved building and fixing things. He believed in simplicity and logic. He loved Science Fiction and spent endless hours researching everything and anything he was interested in while taking copious paper notes with detailed schematic engineering diagrams.
We will celebrate the life of Barry on Wednesday, December 7 at 2:00 pm with a graveside ceremony at Wake Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary, NC.
