Betty Smith Sanders

Betty Smith Sanders, age 98, of Morrisville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024. Born on May 8, 1926 in Hoffman, NC; she was the daughter of the late Earl Ray Smith and Mabel Elizabeth Stroupe Smith.

Her father worked for the railroad and they moved frequently. Betty was working in Washington, DC during World War II when she met former husband, Charles Sanders. She lived in Chatham County before moving to Cary. Betty worked at a number of businesses before being hired by CP&L (Duke Power). She moved to Morrisville 20 years ago after she retired. Betty enjoyed day trips and loved photography and gardening.

Betty is survived by her daughter: Carol and son-in-law Bob Jensen; grandchildren: Marshal (and wife Amy), Bob Jr (and wife Lisa) and Roger; great-grandchildren: Alex, Parker, Brooke, Chelsea, Couper, Olivia and Joanna; great-great-grandchildren: Peyton and Weston; her niece: Robbin; and nephews: Lynn, Dale and Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Sonny, Bob and Jim, and sister: Anne.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
