Billie Lou Metzger Kuhns

Billie Lou Metzger Kuhns, age 94 years, passed away on October 12, 2025, at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on July 27, 1931 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania; she was the daughter of the late J.R. Metzger and Mary Colson Metzger.

Billie met George E. Kuhns, Jr. in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and together they celebrated 71 years of marriage. She began her career in banking while living in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and after moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, she continued her work in the banking industry with First Citizens Bank, where she dedicated many years, before retiring. She attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and then Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cary, North Carolina and enjoyed feeding and watching the many birds and deer outside her kitchen window.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Billie Lou is survived by her husband: George E. Kuhns, Jr.; their three children: Bruce Kuhns (Nancy), Scott Kuhns (Ruthann), and Dawn Gladstone (Meyer); siblings: Nancy Fannan (Bethlehem, PA) and Joan Nellis (Greensburg, PA); her cherished grandchildren: Ashton Muccio (Lou), Chase Gladstone, John Altieri, Carleigh Gladden (Joey), Jannah Kassinger (Creighton); great-grandchildren: Robert Muccio and Thomas, Mills, and Sutton Gladden; and other extended family and friends, including numerous nieces and nephews.
