

Billy Hearn Webster of Cary, N.C. passed away on September 7th, 2026 at the age of 95. Bill was born on April 18, 1931 in Wheatley, Kentucky. He grew up and spent his childhood in Owen and Scott Counties, Kentucky and he graduated from Stamping Ground High School in 1949. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 2 years from 1951 – 1953.
Bill was a devoted father and husband. He was married to Sue Beverly Vickers Webster for 64 years until the passing of Sue in 2018. Bill and Sue moved to Cary with their 3 children in 1969 and resided there ever since. Bill worked for Carolina Power and Light and in the nuclear energy industry for his entire career during which he helped to establish the Sharon Harris and Brunswick nuclear power facilities. Outside of his normal work activities, Bill was involved in the North Carolina Health Physics Society for which he served as the President for several years. Bill also received several awards from Governor Jim Hunt for his work in the nuclear power industry.
Billy H. Webster is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Jamie Markus of Fuquay Varina and by his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kelly Webster of Wilmington and Grandchildren; Tara Peebles, Jason Dye, Bradley Webster, Ashlin Webster, and Natalie Pace; Great Grandchildren Liam Peebles, Sydney Peebles, Madelyn Dye, Caleb Dye, Keira Dye, Everly Webster and Luca Pace.
Bill is the son of William G. and Lorene H. Webster. Bill is proceeded in death by his wife, Sue Beverly Vickers Webster, his son, Bruce Vickers Webster, his brothers, Porter Webster and Paul Webster, and his sister, Wilma Reece.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 12th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary NC with a reception immediately following the service.
Bill had a special heart for children, especially the underserved. He found purpose in supporting various charitable organizations focusing on this mission including The Crossnore School.
