Brenda Herrin Goodwin

Brenda was born on August 3rd, 1953, to Flossie and William Herrin in Asheboro, North Carolina. She is survived by her husband, Reg Goodwin; her son, Dane King and his wife, Teresa; her daughter, Tracy Moore and her husband, Jim; her step-daughter, Susan Butler and her husband, Scott; her grandchildren: Ben Moore and his wife Brianna, Taylor Moore, Joshua Butler, Amanda Ellis and Laura Fergus; her great grandchildren, Dakota and Sterling Moore; her sister, Carol Lee and her husband, Ronald; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Brenda moved to Carolina Beach at an early age and lived there for many years. She loved spending family time out in the boat or just relaxing at the bay. She later moved to Murrells Inlet, SC, where she enjoyed walks on the boardwalk by the waterway and listening to live bands at the restaurants. She spent her final years in Cary with her beloved husband, Reg, where they began to travel and enjoy retirement.

Brenda loved traveling, whether it be cruises, National Parks, a Dude Ranch, the mountains, the beach or going abroad, she loved it all. Plants and trees always caught her eye, and she could tell you what they were and how to grow them. Fresh cut flowers in her house always brought her joy! Fall was her favorite season, she looked forward to the changing colors of the leaves and the cooler weather!

Brenda had an amazing gift of decorating, she could envision something and make it happen. Her house was always beautifully decorated for the seasons and holidays, where she loved having family over to visit. She was a great cook, and loved to collect recipes. Her greatest love was her family, she took pride in their goals and achievements and was always cheering them on, but most of all she just wanted to spend time with them.

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Cary, NC. Family and friends will gather at 2:00 on Sunday, November 9, 2025 to honor an amazing woman who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
