Caralynn McCue Friend

Caralynn was born in Staunton, VA. She was the daughter of John Cyrus McCue and Mary Frost Wilson McCue and is survived by her husband of 45 years, William Friend, her brother John Cyrus (Joe) McCue and wife Lizzie, son Jonathan Friend and wife Marissa and daughter Lisa Friend Munns and husband Tony. She was preceded in death by her sister Susan McCue Bush. Caryn was especially proud of her 4 grandchildren and always stayed in touch with her nieces, nephews and their families. She never forgot about or missed any of their birthdays.

Caryn graduated from Fort Defiance High School in Fort Defiance, Va. in 1968 and from East Carolina University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

She spent a majority of her career as a manufacturer’s representative in the hospitality industry. Although her territory was NC, SC and VA, she was highly respected and admired by people in that industry across the entire country.

She enjoyed traveling and spent her free time loving her cats, tending to her house plants and entertained herself with digital artwork and crossword puzzles on her laptop and iPad.

Caryn had a lot of love for life, for her friends and for our children and grandchildren. She stayed in touch with her friends and business associates and always finished a conversation, whether in person or on the phone, with ”I love you.” In return everyone expressed their love for her and with her no longer with us, we all will now have a deep void in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Caryn may be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle in Raleigh, NC 27607.

A graveside service for Caralynn will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM to at Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Rd, Cary, NC 27519.
