Born in Montana, August of 1941, he was the son of the late Paul A. Hinz and Ida (Waldo) Hinz. Carl proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Vietnam era. He often spoke fondly of the many ports he visited during his time in service.
Following his military service, Carl attended Free Will Baptist Bible College, where he met the love of his life, Kay Hall. The two were married on June 24, 1969, and soon after began a life of ministry together, serving in pastoral roles across Utah, Tennessee, and Illinois.
Carl and Kay eventually settled in the Raleigh, NC area, where Carl worked for IBM for over 20 years until his retirement. In retirement, he remained deeply involved in the life and community of Mid-Way Baptist Church, where his faith and service continued to touch many lives.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Kay; his sons, Paul Louis Hinz and Anthony John Hinz; his daughter-in-law Karen Hinz and three cherished grandchildren; Allison, Justin, and Kylie as well as his three sisters, Carol, Amy, and Leah. He was preceded in death by his son Kyle Hinz, who passed away last year in 2024.
Carl will be remembered for his devotion to his faith, family, and community, and for the quiet strength with which he lived his life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 21st at Mid-Way Baptist Church, starting at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service. Burial of ashes will be held at Wake Memorial Park in Cary, NC.
