Carlton "Wayne" Johnson

Carlton “Wayne” Johnson, 60 died unexpectedly Sunday, December 4, 2011. He was born November 11, 1951 to the late Carl and Lacy (Privette) Johnson. Wayne served with the N.C. National Guard for 35 years and retired as a Lt. Col. in 2006. He was currently employed with the NCDOT as an engineer and was looking forward to retiring later this month after 32 years of service. Wayne was a wonderful husband and father and cherished his grandson more than life itself. He also loved spending time with his friends, golfing, or fishing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beth Johnson of Raleigh, NC; son, Wes Johnson and wife, Denise of Raleigh; grandson, Carter Johnson.

Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Cary, NC. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 7 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or charity of choice.
