Charlemagne (Char) I. Asekhauno, 41, passed away on April 3, 2019, ending his 2+ year battle with cancer. Born December 4, 1977 in Washington DC, he was raised in Fairfax, Virginia and was a graduate of Chantilly High School. In 2006, he and wife Jackie moved to North Carolina, making Cary their home. For the past decade, he managed Cisco’s equipment reuse and recycling facility, working for Cisco contractor Datanet IT.
Char was a devoted and loving father. Upon the birth of son Liam, Char was eager to share his love of ice hockey, counting the days until Liam could lace up his own skates. Throughout his adult life, Char played goalie alongside friends in various ice and roller hockey leagues. His family shared Char’s love of camping, and in recent years, he could often be found playing Pokémon Go with his son. His friends and family will forever remember his sense of humor, mischievous smile, and love of dogs, especially his beloved Bebe.
In addition to his wife of 12 years Jacqueline Watling Asekhauno and son Liam, Char is survived by his mother Jacquelyn White; his brother Roderick, sister-in-law Cassandra, and nephews Cameron and Baylor; and his Aunt Theresa White; Uncle Thomas White and family; Aunt Cindy Dutton and family; and grandmother Mary White.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00pm – 3:00pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511, with a reception immediately following. To honor his love of hockey, the family invites attendees to dress in their favorite hockey jerseys.
