A private graveside service was held on Friday, November 27th at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago. The family plans to hold a memorial service in Sarasota, Florida at a later date.
He was born October 29, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Marie Allen. His father was an executive at Brinks Armored Cars in Chicago and his mother was a homemaker.
Chuck grew up in Bannockburn, Illinois and following graduating from Syracuse University, he proudly served in the Army and later worked at Illinois Bell for 29 years. He met and married his wife of 54 years, Helen Joan Allen while living in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. He and his family lived in the Chicago area until retiring to Osprey, Florida in 1988.
He loved being with his family, friends, traveling, boating, and playing shuffle board and Bocce Ball.
He is survived by his daughters, Beth Allen and Susan McIndoe and her husband, Pirie; and granddaughters, Colleen and Erin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents, Charles and Marie; and his sister, Edith.
