Charles Evans Chafee

He was born July 29, 1936 in Middletown, CT, to Philip M. and E. Veronica Evans Chafee.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sharon Tuck Chafee, also of Cary.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Philip M. Chafee, Jr.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut School of Physical Therapy and a Master’s in Business Administration from New Hampshire College.

He began his career as a Physical Therapist, then moved into management in the non-profit health care field, most notably for Easter Seal Societies in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Georgia; and was the Executive Director of the Maine Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation for many years.

While living in Maine, he enjoyed serving on the Brunswick Town Council for several years, including as Chairman; and was a member and past president of the Brunswick Rotary Club.

After his retirement in 1998, Charles most enjoyed traveling the world with his wife.

The family is grateful to the staff at WakeMed for the kind care he received there.

Services will be private. Memorials may be made in his name to the Middlesex Historical Society, 151 Main St. in Middletown, CT 06457.
