Charles "Charlie" Robert Lee

Charles Robert Lee, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 29, 2026, in Cary, North Carolina at age 61. He was born on March 11, 1965, in Indiana, to Stephen J. Lee and Larrena L. Laird.

There are some people who are simply impossible to forget, and Charlie was one of them.

Charlie had a personality that filled a room. He had an incredible sense of humor, a quick wit, and a laugh that was impossible not to love. He laughed often and wholeheartedly, and he had a way of making the people around him laugh right along with him. He loved comedy, funny shows, movies, stories, and anything that could bring a little more laughter into life.

He was incredibly intelligent and had an extraordinary memory. Charlie seemed to know something about almost everything, and he loved sharing what he knew. He could remember names, dates, stories, conversations, and details from years ago.

Charlie had a great love of his family history and ancestry. He spent countless hours researching the generations who came before him, uncovering stories, names, and connections that might otherwise have been forgotten. He took pride in knowing where his family came from and loved sharing those discoveries with the people he loved.

Music was another huge part of Charlie’s life. He loved going to concerts and could identify an artist and name of a song instantly. He had an incredible knowledge of music and could remember songs and artists that others had long forgotten. Music was something he truly enjoyed, and it became part of the memories he created throughout his life.

Charlie loved to travel and enjoyed taking trips and seeing new places. One of his greatest gifts was his ability to connect with people. He never knew a stranger. He could start a conversation with virtually anyone and somehow make it feel as though they’d known each other forever. He made many friends throughout his life, including friendships that lasted for decades. Those friendships meant something to him, and the people who knew him will remember his stories, his laughter, his opinions, and his unmistakable personality.

Charlie loved fiercely. He had strong beliefs, strong opinions, and a strong personality, but beneath all of that was an enormous heart. When Charlie loved someone, he loved them completely. He was generous and would do whatever he could for the people he cared about. His family was deeply important to him, and his children and grandchildren will forever carry a part of him with them.

Charlie is survived by his daughters, Catherine Marie Lee of Indiana, Ashley Nicole Lee of Indiana, and Vivien Elizabeth Lee of North Carolina; his son, Stephen Alexander Lee of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Alejandro Miguel Pedraza Jr., Adalia Marie Pedraza, Bradley Scott Clark, Naomi Cecilia Paz, Augustine Dean Clark, Cristian Santiago Paz, Mateo Rafael Paz, and Elias Robert Lee; his sisters, Stephenie Marie Gladden of Arizona and Stacy Lee Perez of Arizona; as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends who loved him dearly.

His absence will leave a space that cannot be filled. We will miss his laugh. We will miss his stories. We will miss his opinions, his humor, his incredible memory, and the way he could turn a conversation with a stranger into a friendship. We will miss the phone calls, the conversations, the music, and all of the little things that made him who he was. Most of all, we will miss knowing that he was here.

Charlie lived a life full of people, stories, music, laughter, friendships, and love. His life touched more people than he probably ever realized, and the memories he left behind will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

He was our Dad. He was our Grandpa. He was our Brother. He was our family. He was our friend.

He will always be loved . He will be missed beyond words. He will never be forgotten.
