Charlie is survived by his wife, Maryanne Leykum, his children Michele Leykum-Enoch (Jeff), Brian Leykum (Jim), his grandchildren, Colton Baransky, Reese Baransky, Jada Enoch, and Beckham Enoch, and his brother Robert Leykum.
He is predeceased by his father, Arnold Leykum and mother Anne Leykum.
Charlie was born on April 27, 1949 in Queens NY. He graduated from St. Francis College and enjoyed a successful career in accounting and finance. He married Maryanne, who he had known since the age of 12. They were married for 46 years, spending their life together on Long Island in NY, Shrewsbury MA, and Holly Springs NC .
Charlie loved sports, both as a spectator and coach. He was an avid UNC, NY Yankees, and NY Islanders fan. Charlie had accrued a large collection of sports memorabilia. He coached baseball, softball and soccer, and was highly dedicated to his athletes. When he wasn’t watching or coaching sports, he was happy to travel and spend quality time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Charlie was a spiritual man, involved in his parish on LI and in Massachusetts, prior to his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all of those whose lives he has touched.
A viewing is scheduled for 6-8pm, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary NC, on Thursday, September 19th. A funeral service will be held at St. Michael The Archangel Church in Cary NC on September 20th at 11:00am.
