Chuck, a Brooklyn guy, became an Economist, Francophile and oenophile. Chuck could open a World Economic conference with a poem by Dryden, Wordsworth, Tennyson or Frost relating to the topic of macro/economics. Definitely a Renaissance man. He packed much life into his years before Parkinson disease, a degeneration at the basal ganglia of the brain that left him unable to speak . Chuck is survived by Linda, his ever gracious wife, and
his caring and unstoppable daughter, Also mourning the loss of Chuck is the wine industry.

I miss my wonderful, generous brother.
And I am grateful for the kind people who cared for Chuck during his time in North Carolina.

My affinity for wine was sparked by my Uncle Chuck...every time I saw Chuck we would crank open unbelievable bottles of wine. Flavors like I’ve never experienced before and will definitely never experience again. I still have special bottles maturing that will be opened, sure to re-spark fond memories of our time spent together.

Wine aside...Chuck made an everlasting impression on my approach to life, love, and success. His unique blend of caring, calmness, and intellectualism taught me so much. I’ll never forget him: the true measure of someone’s mark in this world. A toast to Chuck...

FOND MEMORIES OF OUR YOUTH: “The Backstabbers” by the O’Jays, Bogart movies, Russ & Daughters appetizers, Scotch whiskey, The White Horse Tavern, Genessee Dark ale, NYT crosswords, Zippos and John Player Specials, century bike rides and, of course, Paris. Never the same without my much loved college buddy.
