Chris McCarthy

Our beloved mother has left our family and this life to prepare the next journey for all of us. She was the ultimate giver and sacrificed everything for her kids and family. Her life was complete and her proudest accomplishment was being a mother to her three children. She always put her children first and for that we will always be grateful and remember her as the best mom and “grammie.”

Chris was born on March 26th, 1944, on the island Rethymon, Crete in Greece. She was the daughter of the late Efstratios and Chrissi Tzirita.

Chris is survived by her children: son, Anthony Charles McCarthy and wife Gina McCarthy of Cary NC, daughter, Kathy McCarthy Massarelli and husband Paul Massarelli of Valrico Florida, and daughter Helen McCarthy Ballentine and husband Scott Ballentine of Raleigh NC. She is also survived by her four sisters, Helen Amlin and husband, Dale Amlin of Omaha Nebraska, Margaret Tzirita, Maria Kutsurubis and Sophia Kouspachis all of Rethymon, Crete Greece. She was also survived by her niece Christine Amlin Wall and Brian Wall and their two children Cleo and Xena Wall.

Chris was very proud of all of her Grandchildren and loved each one dearly, Anthony Charles McCarthy II and wife April, Cory Ballentine and wife Rachel, Lauren Ashley McCarthy and Katelyn Massarelli.

A private family service is to be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the ASPCA.
