Clarence Linwood Hodges

Pete was born April 2, 1937, in Dunn, NC, to the late George R. Hodges and Ethel Weaver Hodges. He was a 1956 graduate of Cary High School. From his earliest years, Pete carried himself with a steady determination—meeting life with the kind of persistence that does not seek attention, yet earns lasting respect.

A veteran of the North Carolina National Guard, Pete served for over 30 years and rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major. His long service reflected a work ethic grounded in discipline and duty, and a resilience shaped by years of commitment to those alongside him and the mission before him.

Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Hodges. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Hodges; sons, Jeffrey Hodges and his wife, Theresa, and Douglas Hodges; and two grandchildren, Megan and Christopher Hodges.

Known as a woodsman, gunsmith, and sharpshooter, Pete also served with the All-National Guard Rifle Team—bringing patience, precision, and quiet perseverance to skills he valued and practiced with care. In retirement, he continued to give of himself through more than 20 years of volunteering with Toys for Tots, offering time and effort in a way that spoke to his enduring sense of responsibility and service.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2pm Monday, July 27, 2026 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
