Dave was a loving friend, brother, son and uncle and there was no gentler or more generous person in the world. He had a fun-loving nature, was always cheerful and laughing and never took himself too seriously. He went to University of New England and received a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting. The highlight of his college experience was a semester abroad in Florence, Italy where he studied art and gelato. He was an accountant and also worked as a draftsman at Hussey’s Seating Company in his hometown of North Berwick, Maine. In recent years, he has worked and volunteered at Wake County Libraries in Cary and Raleigh.
True to his Maine roots, Dave had an independent spirit and was a bachelor his entire life. He was a doting uncle to his nephew and niece and proudly watched and helped them grow to adulthood. Dave would do anything for anybody and would make any level of sacrifice to help people. He was a vocal supporter of organ donation and would be proud to know that he is helping people even in his passing.
Dave had many passions and loved to learn. He studied history and was a Civil War buff. He was very interested in genealogy. He traveled to every corner of New England to visit cemeteries and research historical records in the pursuit of building a family tree that went back several centuries. He also loved traveling with the family up and down the East Coast and to Europe.
Dave loved role-playing games and the camaraderie of spending time with his close friends. He also enjoyed playing golf. A highlight for our family was being with him when he hit a hole-in-one. True to his selfless nature, he celebrated the accomplishment but never gloated. He loved family trips to DisneyWorld and will always be considered by the family as the all-time great at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin game.
Dave was a Freemason and proudly served his lodge for many years. He was among the youngest to serve as Master of the North Berwick Masonic Lodge. One of his many accomplishments there was to create the North Berwick Masonic Scholarship Association. In lieu of flowers, please donate to his scholarship fund
